Rumours that the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway plan to convert their line to Brunel's Broad Gauge appear to be somewhat wide of the mark! However, on display in the car park at Toddington on 29th October 2011 was the replica of No. IronDuke which was built in 1985. The original No. IronDuke was designed by Daniel Gooch for Brunel's 7ft 01/4in Broad Gauge and built in 1847 and was capable of running safely at speeds upto 80 mph, partly due to the immense size of the driving wheel, it had a diameter of 8 feet. By 1906 Churchward had no use for it and it was unceremoniously cut up at Swindon Works, something we would now consider as sacrilege.
