Photographed at Carlisle on 19th June 2013 are two items of stock from different eras of railway design, on the left is the former GWR Directors' Saloon built at Swindon in 1930 and because of 'grandfather rights' is still permitted access to the national network; on this day it formed part of Statesman Rail's 'The Fellsman' and was awaiting the return of No. 61994 'The Great Marquess' from Upperby before its southbound journey over the Settle & Carlisle line. On the platform line may be seen a Virgin Class 390 'Pendolino' No. 320103 working the 11:30 Euston to Glasgow Central; this unit was in the first batch to be constructed between 2001 and 2004.
