Class 66s are, by comparison with earlier diesel locomotives, much quieter, even when being worked hard, but the example seen in this image was making quite a din as it lifted its gross load of about 1,700 tons out of Tunstead Sidings and on to the former Midland Railway mainline at Great Rocks Junction. The locomotive shown is Freightliner's No. 66506 and the working is the 11:49 to West Thurrock.
