Having taken over from electric traction, English Electric diesels No. D402 and No. 415 depart from Crewe on 17th March 1971 with a London Euston - Glasgow Central service. They later became No. 50002 'Superb' and No. 50015 'Valiant' and were withdrawn in September 1991 and June 1992 respectively.
