Brush Type 4 diesel electric No. 1780 departs from Exeter St Davids on 22nd May 1971 with a Aberdeen - Penzance working. New from Loughborough in October 1964 and initially allocated to Tinsley (41A), it became Class 47 No. 47185 under TOPS in November 1973, 47602 in November 1983, 47824 in April 1989 and finally 47782 in March 1994. The loco was named 'Glorious Devon' from August 1985 to February 1993. It was withdrawn from service September 2003 and cut up by TJ Thompson & Son Ltd at Stockton during April 2007.
