A brace of BRC&W Crompton Type 3 diesel electrics Nos. 6555 and 6557 await departure time at Exeter St Davids on 22nd May 1971 at the head of a through service to Brighton. They were both new within a month of each other in 1961, No. 6555 later becoming No. 33037 and surviving until withdrawal in September 1987, and No. 6557 later becoming No. 33039 and surviving until May 1989. Both were cut up by MC metals of Springburn, during August 1991 and May 1991 respectively.
