An unconventional view of recently delivered IEP units with No. 800015 leading No. 800014 as the 10-car set speeds through Hungerford on a test run to Taunton on 10th November 2017. The stark gap in the smooth lines of the set at the join makes you query the wisdom of designing 21st Century long range express sets as two self-contained five-car multiple units. The aerodynamics takes a hit here and the lack of a through connection is a potential handicap. Imagine standing room only in one set and spare seats at the other end!
