A useful tip is to find some way of masking out the sky when you are obliged to shoot towards the sun, keeping the light on the side of the train for interesting modelling effects with clarity increased by the strong contrasts. Class 59/1 No. 59104 and its loaded stone wagons get the treatment as they make their way cautiously through Bedwyn with the Merehead Quarry to Colnbrook working on 21st September 2022. The very heavy train has already had to stop on the down slope in the previous section while the shuttle DMU to Newbury emerges from the turnback siding beyond the crossover. The driver is clearly trying to avoid repeated stop/starts in the wake of the stopping service.
