Having arrived on the rear of the Northern Belle rail charter from Darlington on 24th May 2025, this WCRC Class 57 No. 57313 'Scarborough Castle' now prepares to take the rail charter back to Newcastle, via the S&C and the ECML as; the 14.15 from Carlisle to Newcastle.
It had been intended that this rail charter, named the Settle and Carlisle Steam Special, would be steam hauled from Carlisle to Hellifield. However, this was cancelled, due to a potential fire risk during a prolonged period of dry weather.
An Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino No. 390044 occupies platform 4 to the right. It will soon depart as: the 11.36 service from Glasgow Central to London Euston, via Birmingham.
Barely visible further to the right is a Northern Class 158, No. 158757, which has arrived into platform 5 with the 09.20 service from Leeds to Carlisle.
