A pair of 0-6-0 diesel shunters, Nos. 2179 and D2398, rest between duties at Bournemouth Depot on 2nd August 1970. The latter was the oldest, being new from Doncaster Works in September 1961 and allocated to Hither Green (73C). It was withdrawn in October 1971 without gaining a TOPS identity and was cut up by Pounds Shipbreakers at Fratton TMD in October 1972. 2179 was new from Swindon Works in January 1962 and also allocated to Hither Green (73C). It became Class 03 No. 03179 under TOPS in 1973, was twice withdrawn and reinstated before final withdrawal in July 2002. It was acquired by First Capital Connect and named 'Clive', for shunting duties at Hornsey EMU Depot.
