Class 50 No. 50034 'Furious' awaits departure time at Reading Station with a Network South East outer surburban train for Paddington on 31st March 1990. New to BR's London Midland Region in 1967/68 as No. D434 transfer to the Western Region occurred after the Crewe to Glasgow route had been electrified in 1974. Displaying the revised Network South East livery in this photo No. 50034 was in fact approaching the end of her working life with withdrawal taking place during June 1990. Scrapping was completed at Old Oak Common in February 1991.
