In original Tyne & Wear cadmium and white livery prototype Tyne & Wear two-car Metro No. 4001 brings up the rear of a South Shields to St James yellow line service as it calls at Ilford Road station on 27th June 1989. Delivered in 1975 No. 4001 is still in active service with Tyne & Wear Metro making it one of the oldest passenger units running in the UK. The identity of the leading unit is unknown.
