A busy scene at Exeter St Davids on 22nd May 1971. Easily identifiable by its cab-mounted horns, 'Warship' Class diesel hydraulic No. 870 'Zulu' has just terminated at Platform 4 with 1V11, the 11.10 service from London Waterloo. Brush Type 4 diesel electric No. 1637 waits to depart from Platform 5 with a service to London Paddington. The 'Warship' was withdrawn in August of that year after a short service life of just nine years and 10 months and was cut up at Swindon Works during May 1972. No. 1637 later became Class 47 No. 47483 under TOPS in March 1974 and was withdrawn in June 1993. It was cut up by MRJ Phillips at Crewe Works during July 1996.
