An interesting line up of the 3 types of Class 59 on diaplay at the Crewe Basford Hall Yard Open Day held on Sunday 27th August 1995. From right to left it's a Foster Yeoman-liveried Class 59/0 No. 59003 'Yeoman Highlander' dating from February 1986, then an ARC Ltd Class 59/1 No. 59101 'Village of Whatley' new in November 1990 and finally a National Power-liveried Class 59/2 No. 59201 'Vale of York' delivered in June 1994. 19 years later all three are still in front line service hauling heavy freights with No. 59003 operating in Germany where it's been since mid 1997 and No. 59101 and No. 59201 operating from the huge quarries near Westbury, Wiltshire.
