Carlisle on 27th September 2014 finds 'A4' Pacific No. 60009 'Union of South Africa' and 'Princess Coronation' Pacific No. 46233 'Duchess of Sutherland' side by side at the southern end of the station. The 'A4' had hauled 'The Scottish Lowlander' charter on a circular trip into Scotland via Beattock, Glasgow, Ayr and Dumfries, and the 'Duchess' was waiting to take over the trip for the return to Carnforth, where it would be replaced by LMS 'Jubilee' No. 45699 'Galatea' for the remainder of the journey back to Crewe.
