As they await their appointment with the cutter's torch, excited young spotters clamber over 'Warship' Class diesel hydraulic No. D847 'Strongbow' and Type 2 diesel hydraulic No. D6332 in the yard at Swindon Works on 27th August 1971. Both were products of the North British Locomotive Company, D847 being withdrawn from Newton Abbot during March 1971 and D6332 from Old Oak Common during May of the same year. Their service lives were 9 years 11 months and 10 years 9 months respectively.
