On Monday 15th May 1978 Class 47/0 No. 47268 coasts through Leuchars Station in Fife with a southbound Freightliner working from Aberdeen. Built at Crewe Works and entering service in October 1965 as Type 4 No. D1969 her first allocation would be Haymarket MPD, Edinburgh. Renumbered under TOPS in April 1974 as Class 47/0 No. 47268, ETH fitted firstly as Class 47/4 No. 47595 in September 1983 then as No. 47675 in August 1991 her final renumbering was as a Class 47/7 No. 47791 in August 1994. Withdrawl from Crewe Diesel Depot followed in January 2001 and after a long period in store latterly at Barrow Hill she was scrapped by C F Booth at Rotherham during May 2013. Close observation of the station reveals the central bay platform formally used by services to St Andrews until that lines closure in 1969 still visible although now filled in and supporting new station lights and the brick base of the old steam water tower still present to the left of the station canopy. The white houses above the loco are part of RAF Leuchars married quarters with the airfield boundary being just out of picture to the right.
