Stabled at the London end of Platform 8 at Crewe Station on 7th June 1992 is Station Pilot Class 08 No. 08633 'The Sorter'. Built at BR Derby Works during December 1959 as No. D3800 she had been locally based for many years. Named 'The Sorter' at Crewe Station on 12th October 1991 she was kept in very clean condition and could normally be found in and around the station shunting and remarshalling the various Parcel Trains then in everyday operation. With the gradual run-down of this traffic the name was removed in November 1995 and she reverted to normal shunting duties. Currently in EWS colours she is officially allocated to Crewe International Electric Depot but can be found stored at Marcroft Engineering Ltd, Stoke on Trent.
