Class 27/1 No. 27111 is seen awaiting departure from Cowlairs Carriage Sidings on 29th March 1976 with an empty stock working for Glasgow Queen Street. Built by BRC&W as Type 2 No. D5400 she entered service from Cricklewood Depot in North London during July 1962. Transferring to Scotland in 1970 she was modified for use on 'push pull' trains between Glasgow and Edinburgh which commenced in May 1971. Renumbered under TOPS as Class 27/1 No. 27111 in April 1974 she continued on these services until replaced by Class 47/7 locomotives in 1980. In May 1983 she was renumbered as Class 27/0 No. 27055 and survived for another 4 years before withdrawl in July 1987, being scrapped by Vic Berry at their Leicester Yard the same month.
