There used to be a stabling point and goods yard on the seafront to the west of the Dover Marine in the space now occupied just by the coastal running lines to Dover Priory, and a car park. on 28th May 1975 Class 71 third-rail DC electric locos No. 71004 and 71010 are waiting for their next turn of duty while Class 08 No. 08833 busies itself marshalling vans. The hillside beyond is scarred with defensive fortifications while the new A20 relief road to Dover Harbour now sits on top of the chalk cliff immediately behind the tracks.
