Demolition of the Ebbw Vale steelworks is nearing completion on 17th April 1981. In the foreground sets of 4-wheel coal wagons have been loaded with scrap for disposal, and beyond an impressive collection of yellow works diesel shunters are awaiting their fate - 3 single-end cab 0-4-0s and six more powerful 0-8-0 centre cabs with Sentinel No. 150 ahead of No. 154 at the right-hand side. The wild hillside above gives a sense of pre-industrialisation Ebbw Vale.
