Sunset is probably the appropriate mood for this shot of the box high over Buckland Junction on the outskirts of Dover on 14th November 1981. The triangular connection to the main line from Canterbury has been simplified to a single link facing Dover Priory, and the box appears to have been decommissioned. 4CEP No. 7203 has just eased down the 1-in-60 gradient off the 275 feet summit of the coastal line from Deal which runs safely behind the White Cliffs.
