An unidentified Pressed Steel Class 117 DMU hurries south away from Oxford with a local service along the Thames Valley to Paddington on 4th January 1982. The view at Hinksey suggests severe winter flooding but the line here, and the associated footbridge, were built over a natural lake in the Thames floodplain. The 'dreaming spires' of the city are visible on the horizon.
