With the snow capped peak of Ben More looking down on Crianlarich Station, Class 37/4 No. 37408 'Loch Rannoch' departs with a morning Glasgow Queen Street to Oban train. New to Cardiff Canton MPD in June 1965 as D6989, a renumbering under TOPS to a Class 37/0 No. 37289 occurred during February 1974. Crewe Works carried out the conversion to a Class 37/4 during 1985 followed by a transfer to Glasgow Eastfield MPD. There was a return to Cardiff in January 1989 after replacement on West Highland duties by Class 156 Super Sprinters. Stored in August 2005 due to accident damage incurred at Rhymney, the loco was subsequently used as a source of spares with official withdrawal and scrapping at EMR Kingsbury taking place during January 2008.
