Sunday 13th March 1977 finds Class 47/3 No. 47356 stabled in the remains of Westhouses MPD. I believe this loco to be one of, if not the last, Class 47 to carry the original two tone BR green livery, complete with lion and wheel emblem, as delivered to Immingham MPD in July 1965. Renumbering under TOPS, a blue data panel and NB (No Steam Heat Boiler) decals on the cab side plus the full yellow warning panel seem to be the only obvious livery changes since then. In August 1998 No. 47356 was selected for conversion to Class 57 No. 57001 and operated by Freightliner for several years. The influx of Class 66 locos rendered it surplus and in January 2011 West Coast Railways purchased the loco for use from their Carnforth base.
