Class 76 No. 76014 is pictured on Guide Bridge Stabling Point, Manchester on 19th March 1978. New to BR from the nearby Gorton Works as No. E26014 in June 1951 it would remain allocated to Reddish MPD until the 41-mile Woodhead route from Manchester to Sheffield closed on 17th July 1981, passenger traffic having ceased on 5th January 1970. Renumbered under TOPS as No. 76014 in February 1974 and subsequently dual braked, this multiple-working equipped 1,500V DC loco could not be deployed elsewhere in the UK so was withdrawn upon closure of the line. Along with several of the class it was towed back across the Pennines to Booths scrapyard in Rotherham and broken up there in May 1983.
