Class 66/6 No. 66623 is one of the class with lower gear ratios providing a higher Maximum Tractive Effort at the cost of a lower maximum speed of 65mph. This would be of little consequence in handling the late-running Oxford Banbury Road to Whatley Quarry with just 21 empty wagons in tow on the recently cleared embankment east of Crofton on 13th April 2021.
