In their last year of life of on BR the D1000s could be found working in any state on any working around the WR network. Here a rather shabby-looking D1036 'Western Emperor' has charge of a short van train heading along the down relief up the Thames Valley line beyond Goring in stormy weather on 8th April 1976. Now is the time to catch them before they disappear for ever, we thought!.
