Gerrards Cross signal box on 25th October 1981 - a benign-looking building of standard GWR design seen throughout the WR before centralised signalling. However a few weeks later, in the worst of winter weather, this box was the setting for irregular operations which led to the fatal crash between two DMUs at Seer Green on the Chiltern line.
