Appleford stone terminal is situated south of the Thames river crossings between Didcot and Oxford so remains unaffected by the closure for repairs to Nuneham viaduct. The absence of traffic on this section has allowed departure with the empties for Whatley Quarry over an hour earlier than usual, which progress it has maintained behind heavy-haul Class 66/6 No. 66605 seen storming through Hungerford on 2nd May 2023.
