The somewhat ram-shackle appearance of Obelya station on the western outskirts of the Bulgarian capital city of Sofia belies the area that it serves. Immediately to the right of the platform area is the residential suburb of Obeyla, a district full of substantial houses clearly belonging to middle-income Bulgarians while on the opposite side of the line lies the Sofia Metro Depot and an industrial estate. Surprisingly perhaps, almost all trains stop here including International service INT 7991 13:57 Dragoman to Sofia seen here on 22nd March 2023 in the capable hands of Sofia-based Skoda electric No. 44179.
