TBD's brightly coloured fleet of Class 43, 44 and 46 electric locomotives along with Class 06 diesels make for regular sightings out on the main line. Not so obvious are the two types of diesel shunter that the company also employs on shunting duties, Class 55 and Class 52. These shunters are primarily found working in conjunction with open cast coal workings at various locations. Here, 52-020 is pictured at Pernik-Razpredelitelna, the heavily industrialised area of the south western town of Pernik. TBD TP (Tovarni Prevozi), the freight operating arm of the Bulgarian Bobov-Dol coal company also has a maintenance base at Pernik. Image recorded on 19th October 2024.
