Looking almost like a model railway layout this is Avramovo station, the highest point on the Rhodope Valley narrow gauge railway in Bulgaria. Most of the day this is a quiet, peaceful place with nothing but the sound of birdsong and the delight of the Alpine flora to enjoy. Then at 4pm, in 2017 on 13th June opposite direction train services arrive from Septemvri and Dobrinishte respectively. The silence is suddenly shattered. As well as being a vital link for the local population this is also a major tourist attraction with the latter spilling out onto the platforms to take their pictures at this delightful location. Then as quickly as they arrived all passengers return to their seats and the trains depart. The status-quo is reinstated. A superb place to visit.
