Slivnitsa main station located on the main line between Sofia and Dragoman will often produce something of interest for the railway photographer. With the line to the west of the capital being predominantly single track Slivnitsa provides an ideal location for opposite direction traffic to pass. Either west or eastbound freights are often held here, Slivnitsa consisting of two loop sidings and two through tracks. BZK (Bulgarian Railway Company) Class 87 No. 87-029 is recorded late afternoon at Slivnitsa on 16th October 2024. BZK/GFR Electroputere Class 40 No. 40-0797 is attached to the opposite end of the train. Currently a brand new double-track avoiding line is under construction that will pass just to the north along the outskirts of the town and it could well be that sightings such as this will become a thing of the past in the not so distant future.
