Running westbound through Leudelange at speed and clearly on a mission is CFLs Class 3000 electric locomotive No. 3017, one of just a few of the class retained at the Luxembourg depot. That mission I believe to be a thunderbird sortie following reports of a broken down train in the Athus area which was causing major disruption to services to and from Luxembourg City. Following the introduction of the new Class 2400 Electric Multiple Units the Class 3000s have become surplus to requirements with most of the locos being stored; ten examples at Wasserbillig. Image recorded on a glorious and very warm 8th August 2025.
