Of the original 56 Skoda type 64E electric locomotives (Class 43/0) built for the Bulgarian State run railway (BDZ) in the 1970's, 44 examples were re-geared for a lower maximum speed more suitable for freight trains subsequently renumbered as Class 43/5. on 22nd March 2022, a pair of the latter, 43553 and 43544 head eastbound through Slivnitsa Spirka towards Voluyak and Sofia. The lead loco is clearly in need of similar cosmetic attention that has already been applied to 43544 trailing on the rear.
