Brusartzi Junction in northwest Bulgaria has become a long term storage facility for withdrawn RVR (Riga Wagon Works) Class 32 and Class 33 EMUs. on 16th April 2017, a number of these units were in situ. Here, RVR No. 33008-33007, one of just six sets produced and delivered to the Bulgarian State run Railway between 1990-1992 sits awaiting its fate. Standing alongside, a Class 32 set No. 32084-32083 from the main batch of examples of the earlier Class 32's, constructed and delivered over a nine year period between 1970 and 1979. Although these units look well past their sell by date I am reliably informed by the yard manager that most of the RVR units stored at Brusartzi have their braking and electrical systems maintained on a regular basis and could return to main line service should the need ever arise!.
