Beyond the road bridge is the station layout of Zaharna fabrika, a couple of miles short of Bulgaria's Sofia Central station. on 24th June 2018, BDZ (Bulgarian State run Railway) Skoda Class 61 No. 61008 heads south away from the station complex on the direct route towards Pernik with a mid-afternoon service from Sofia to Dupnica. Just visible travelling in the opposite direction is an almost identical working with class mate 61012 in charge of a northbound service. Like many mainline routes in Bulgaria the route south from Sofia to Pernik is predominantly single track with Zaharna fabrika being a major passing place for opposite direction workings, both passenger and freight.
