Tram car set Nos. 131 and 115 meet at Stareplaz/Etoile interchange stop on 13th April 2023, this section of the Luxembourg tram system from Pfaffenthal/Kirchberg being completed on 27th July 2018. Since then further expansion has continued on to Gare Centrale (Luxembourg Central Railway Station) and Lycee Bouneweg. The 3.6km section of the route through the city centre is wire-free that uses ground-level charging points at each stop to recharge the trams Greentech hybrid battery/super capacitor system. Hence, no ugly overhead catenary in this view. Line speed through the city is capped at 50 km/h (31mph). There was mixed reaction from the local population during the planning and construction of the LUXTRAM light railway but clearly the system is now paying dividends, big time!.
