The familiar chimney stack of the Aurubis copper extraction facility at Pirdop appears to dominate both the yard and mountains in the background. Since October 2019, Burgas-based PORT RAIL have taken over the shunting duties of iron ore and sulphuric acid wagons at Pirdop. Two Romanian built Type LDH25 Class 55 diesel locomotives Nos.55-098 and 55-249 are captured in the same image sharing the work on 9th October 2023. Also present on the same day was Class 07 No. 07-070, acquired by PORT RAIL specifically to work the heaviest shunting movements between the copper plant and the yard.
