Found on display in the concourse of Sofia Central station is this fine example of a preserved former DH(Henschel 16012/1918) narrow gauge loco and coach No. 105. Built in 1918 this loco No. 479, is known to have worked in the Sturma Valley region. Construction of the Sturma Valley rail network began in 1915 and like most other Bulgarian six hundred millimetre gauge lines was operated by the military, being taken over by BDZ (Bulgarian State run Railway) in 1919. From 1925 the route was gradually converted to standard gauge but it was not until 1965 that the full conversion process was completed on reaching the Greek border at Kulata.
