Always time for a chat with a local while cleaning the windscreen. This was the early evening scene at Kulata on 16th May 2023 in the most south westerly region of the Bulgarian railway network just one mile from the Greek border. BDZ-PP Electroputere 46-229 has run round it's two-coach consist and will eventually return north working the ORD 50134 (19:55) departure to Dupnitsa. Passenger services to and from Greece ceased during the COVID 19 pandemic and come early 2025 have still not been reinstated. Even the INT (International Train) prefix has now been dropped from the Sofia fast trains and the station passport office closed. Freight workings crossing the border were also a regular site here but today are sporadic at best.
