The latest Electroputere LE5100 electric to join the TBD fleet thunders through Slivnitsa-Spirka, 46-014 returning from nearby Aldomirovtsi having exchanged an empty consist of coal hoppers for a full one. Destination for the load of low quality coal is almost certainly the Bo-bov dol power complex near Dupnitsa in SW Bulgaria. With a brand new avoiding line under construction just north of here the future of this somewhat unique station remains in the balance. The new line, just a man made embankment when this image was recorded on 16th October 2024 will run along the northern perimeter of the town, in easy walking distance of the Spirka station and central area of the town. It is assumed that a new station will be built on the double-track main line rendering the current shelters and basic facilities recorded here redundant. Time will tell.
