Launched in 2021 the relatively new leasing company NEXRAIL have/will take delivery of fifty low-emission Vossloh DE18 Stage V Smart Hybrid diesel locos suitable for operation within Luxembourg, Germany, France and Belgium. This example, 92 82 4185 211-2L is employed on the Bertrange/Strassen Q8 fuel distribution empty tanks on 7th August 2025. Having reversed direction in Luxembourg Yard 211 is captured here now running westbound through Hollerich on the Petange/Rodange route. These DE18 locos are the first diesel-battery hybrid heavy shunting/main line tripping locomotives. They can run noise and emission free on battery power for up to an hour. Ideal for overnight possession work within built up residential areas.
